Japan DMC Costs Explained: What Goes Into a Per-Person Rate

By Odaduu Editorial1 April 2026

The most common misunderstanding in Japan DMC pricing is the assumption that a lower per-person rate means a cheaper programme. It rarely does. What varies is what's included — and the gaps in one proposal become the client's surprises on-ground.

A full-service Japan ground rate typically includes: airport transfers, accommodation (negotiated rate), all meals as specified, licensed bilingual guide per 15–20 guests, porterage and luggage forwarding, cultural experience fees, and a 24/7 ops desk.

What is typically excluded: domestic flights, bullet train tickets, bespoke Michelin counter reservations at premium, and overtime if the programme runs over schedule. Clarifying these upfront is how you avoid the budget overrun call at 11pm on day five.
